HELP Please w/Books I've Read

 If you looking for Books Click on Books to Read under Tabs....  thanks

Ok I am making a page of Books I have read. For example I have read The Twilight Series. If you like that Series also this means we have a common type we like to read. And you might want to see what other books I have read that you might want to check out.

*****Now the problem. As I add books to the list it will make for a lot of scrolling. I would like to have a list at the top of all of this where you can click on the Book Title and go farther down where I have a picture of the book and what other books that are in that series. How do I do this at blogger.com?? Thanks to those that try to help.

Taco Pasta

I got this from Supermoms recipes, but did find the original after a lot of research. I modified hers a bit. Main reason I am putting this on my blog is so you don’t have to scroll through a ton of other stuff to find the recipe. Here is her slightly modified version of the original recipe. She
repined it from The Girl WhoAte Everything who repined it from Fake Ginger Each one is a bit different. Check them out also. Supermom said It was quick, easy, and most importantly, DELICIOUS.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8-12 ounces medium pasta shells
  • 1 small onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (14 oz.) can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 3 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 packet (4 tablespoons) taco seasoning (might want to not use all)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper
Bring a large pot of water to boil. Cook pasta according to the package directions. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water. Set aside.

In a large skillet cook the ground meat and onions over medium-high heat. Add in the diced tomatoes, garlic and taco seasoning and let simmer over medium heat for about 3-5 minutes.
TIP: She said " I used the entire taco seasoning packet. It was a bit overpowering, Consider cutting back on the seasoning packet."
Stir in the cooked pasta, cream cheese, sour cream and remaining pasta water. Continue stirring until the cream cheese is melted and the sauce is well blended. Simmer for a few minutes over medium heat to reduce the sauce, if needed.

Christmas Cards Recycled

Ok we all hate to just throw out those beautiful cards we get once Christmas is over. We pull them all down off the mantel or where ever we had them hanging. Look them over and sometimes set them aside. Pick them up a few days later and look them over. Well why not turn them into a gift for next year . Here is what I did with mine. This one I cut into three pieces.
Once cut I chose a card stock that would look good by laying each piece upon different colors. Glue them in place then punched holes in top and added tassels. Now there is some I have made without tassel because most men don' t like them. grin.

This one I could only cut in half. Thirds would have made each piece to narrow. I have not given many away because I have been saving them until I get a good amount, then I am going to take them to the Elementary Library for them to had out to kids as they check out a book. So why not make a few out of your 2011 Christmas Cards.

Recycle Vinyl Butterfly Card

Ok I made a sympathy card with a Vinyl Sticker Butterfly bought from

PopUps (site to right under Places to Go or click here below).

 Loved the card, but didn't want to throw out the tiny left over pieces that were inside each little detailed line in the butterfly.

 So I trimmed around the pieces forming another butterfly

 and the second picture is the card I created with it.

Graduation Card

Graduation for many of our children, nieces, nephews or grandchildren is right around the corner. Time to start making those cards. Thought I would share with you the graduation card I made for my daughter in 2005. The stamps are from Close to My Heart. The silver boarder is a vinyl border sticker from PopUps. You can find that over to the right under Places to Visit.

The tassle on cap top left is made from embrodery floss in my daughters school colors which are orange and black. They are attached with a black brad. The entire card is White except where I added a thin black strip beside the border on right.

Here is the inside

I printed the graduation announcement information on Vellum ...... stamped the rolled up graduation paper onto the card, then layered the vellum over it. Hope you like.

Tips for the Home #2

Here are some more tips for you.......

Wash dryer filter: The heating unit went out on my dryer. The repairman showed us the lint filter. It was clean. (I clean it after every load). He took filter to the sink, ran hot water over it, hot water just sat on top; didn't go through at all! He said dryer sheets cause a film you can't see over the mesh causing units to burn out. It's the waxy feeling stuff in the dryer sheets that keeps clothing static free. It builds up on the lint screen and could cause dryer to burn your house down! And the best way to keep it working for a long time (and keep electric bill down) is to wash filter with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush at least every 6 months. Also makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long!
============================

Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip to eliminate static cling. It works! Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and ... Ta DA! ... Static is gone.
========================
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water when cooking. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient (peanut butter, for example) and watch how easily it comes right out.
========================

De-fog your windshield: Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!
========================

Re-opening envelopes: If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Voila! It unseals easily.
========================

Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair.
========================

Goodbye Fruit Flies: To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!
============================

Get Rid of Ants with cornmeal. Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

Tips for the Home #1

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster. Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!
Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Yellow is the sweetest. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.

Reheat Pizza Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.

Easy Deviled Eggs: Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

Expanding Frosting: When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.

Reheating refrigerated bread: To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

Newspaper weeds away: Plant your plants in the ground, work the nutrients in your soil. Then wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go, cover with mulch, and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

No More Mosquitoes: Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.
To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it. (Wonder if this works with rabbits? Sure gonna give it a try)

Flexible vacuum hose: To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

Gift Bag Recycled

Ok I have the perfect thing to tell you all about. Ever get a gift in a gift bag and it is so pretty you just hate to throw it away? Well I had one that had pretty flowers on it. I sat down while watching TV and neatly trimmed around each flower and vase. Here are some of my results.

This next one is the little tiny flowers. The above Card I was able to make two of them.

Then I had two different bigger vases on the bag.

This last one I didn't have any more flowers, so I searched through my little box of embellishments and goodies I've collected and came up with this.

Hope I did all this right. Next I will try teaching something step by step.
