What are Charms and DooDads?

 Don't you just love them?

For some reason I feel like I just wrote about them recently.  Do you do that? Do something and forget you wrote or spoke to someone about that very subject then repeat it over and over.  That is called getting old.  Yikes, never thought I would do that.  But low and behold I now do.  Not bad yet.  What was I talking about?   Just kidding.

Charms and DooDads.

What is a charm?

Well you can charm someone to get them to like you.  But that is not the one I am talking about.

Here are some charms.   Use them to decorate with, or put on earrings, necklaces, whatever.

Ok now what is a Doo Dad.
Well it is just about anything.  A trivial ornament or gadget that you can't quite thing of the name for it.   Like the front of a button, broken ear ring, cute thing. You can make really cool things out of them. I mean just look at the pics below.

Some look like they are from earrings.  I mean if I have 2 of them the buyer might want to make earrings.  So far I just play around with them, coming up with ways they might be used.  I have way to many crafts in my head of what I want to make.  Here are some more ideas.
So much fun.  Have you made something with a DooDad like about?  Please share it with me.  If you don't mind I would love to share it with others.
Why did I make this post?  Well to direct you to my Website (Creative Crafts and Supplyz and to explain to a few of you what a DooDad is and what you can do with them.
Want to see Charms to buy?

Recycled Box to Trash Can

Yep I made a trash can.  Why well a new family moved to Tennessee and
several in the community have made donations to set them up in a home with
 everything that they need.
Only 3 trash cans were bought.  1 for Kitchen, and 1 for each of the 2 bathrooms.

But none for the teenagers bedrooms or for the Living room.  Not sure if everyone has trash cans for all of the rooms in there house, but our family does.   I could of gone to the store and bought 2 more trash cans, but me being one that loves crafts decided upon this.

I started with 2 used USPS priority boxes.
I covered them with Paper Mache' first.  I did the old fashion way we did as kids using a mixture of flour and water.  Now what was really weird that NEVER do I remember happening before.  Is the finished product which I will show shortly.  Looked like I has put a crackle paint over the boxes.  I painted them white several coats and finally got the cracks to go away somewhat.

Here is a picture of what I am telling you about.
yes you still see the crackle, but not all broken apart as much.  Before painting white it looked like the paper mache part would just fall off the box.

Now this one is not finished yet,but it is the above box painted white.
You might wonder what the little mountain/ built up areas are on the side.  I want to have a bit of dimension to this one.  That will be the center of some flowers.

LOL I've been piling stuff inside to clean off my couch.  Once I get done working on the Diamond Dot Painting I am doing right now, I will finish this project.  (check other posts coming soon about 5D Diamond Dot Paintings.)

Now the other box I didn't put any dimensions.  I covered it with Scrapbook paper.
I wish I had thought to take a close up of the box before I covered it.  The strip down the middle on the front came on to cover up where the box comes together.  I had not covered that area enough with the Paper Mache' so it kind of dented in there.
Below tells what was done.
Here is the Butterfly Box I made a couple years ago.  This stared out as a box that dog food came in.
These boxes are really thick and sturdy.  I have used them for all kinds of things.  lol
Including the Box below that my family and I call the Butterfly Box.  Which is where our postage stamps and a few other like items are.  So I say it's in the Butterfly box.  So much easier to explain than it is on the book shelf 2nd one over in the dinning room beside the kitchen wall.  Top shelf at the far end.  lol
I spoke above about using a thicker material on the top edges.
instead of Card Board I used matte board that is used for all kinds of things including in framing a photo or license etc.

I hope you enjoyed reading and looking at my latest creations.

Christmas Brooches OR Ornaments

Well Christmas is over, but this is the first chance I am getting to get on line and say hello to all of you out there.   I wanted to show what I made this year for the Seniors at the Senior living home where my hubby works.    Each holiday I make them something to wear on there shirts or vests.  Don't think I will ever be able to stop as one of the residents drives my hubby nuts asking what am I making next.  lol.

These are made from the outer plastic that came from some Glitter pots I bought.  You know when you buy make up or toys or whatever from the store?  You open it from its packaging.  Well I save those and this is why.

I made these so that they can wear them but after making them I was thinking hey these would also make cute ornaments.  So I made one for me, one for my mother and one for my sister.  Here they are.

These too came from packaging.  The bottom & top one were from
from makeup packaging.  The middle is from little hooks I bought to make hanging bird toys.

Now maybe you will know why my craft room is so full.  lol.

Advent Calendar I am working on.

Well my daughter grew up with a calendar with a little mouse she could move to show her how many days left till Christmas Eve.  Now she is married and wanted one for there wall.  She did a lot of searching and her and hubby picked out and paid for what they believed to be in one piece and ready to hang up on the wall.

Guess what.  It came like this.

Ok so it didn't come like the above pic.  But wanted you to get into the Christmas Spirit for a minute.  ha ha

Ok here is how they come.

Here is What mine is looking like

We are not done but getting closer

Getting ready to leave daughters home in Hawaii to head back home.  Leaving the bottom part with her.

Then we pinned the 2 together before I left to show what I have done so far.

Then I took the top half home with me to finish.

And that was the end of November.  Don't tell my daughter but
I haven't worked any more on it.  I will I hope finish it before I go back in October to visit again.

This is what the finished one looks  like.

Here is where you can order one from.
Start now and get it done before Christmas 2017
