Christmas Brooches OR Ornaments

Well Christmas is over, but this is the first chance I am getting to get on line and say hello to all of you out there.   I wanted to show what I made this year for the Seniors at the Senior living home where my hubby works.    Each holiday I make them something to wear on there shirts or vests.  Don't think I will ever be able to stop as one of the residents drives my hubby nuts asking what am I making next.  lol.

These are made from the outer plastic that came from some Glitter pots I bought.  You know when you buy make up or toys or whatever from the store?  You open it from its packaging.  Well I save those and this is why.

I made these so that they can wear them but after making them I was thinking hey these would also make cute ornaments.  So I made one for me, one for my mother and one for my sister.  Here they are.

These too came from packaging.  The bottom & top one were from
from makeup packaging.  The middle is from little hooks I bought to make hanging bird toys.

Now maybe you will know why my craft room is so full.  lol.

Kids at St. Judes Christmas

Have you ever made a donation to St. Judes?  Do you know what St. Judes is?

St. Jude was founded by entertainer Danny Thomas in 1962, with help from Lemuel Diggs and close friend, Miami, Florida, automobile dealer Anthony Abraham, on the premise that "no child should die in the dawn of life".

Ok that is the list they have listed.   Now where to send them to.

St. Jude Research Hospital
Attn: Vilma Carnahan
595 North Parkway
Memphis, TN 38105

Urgent Items Needed

Want to read the entire history of how it came about.  Click below....

All medically eligible patients who are accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family's ability to pay. St. Jude is one of a few pediatric research organizations in the United States where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. In addition to providing medical services to eligible patients, St. Jude also assists families with transportation, lodging, and meals. Three separate specially-designed patient housing facilities— Tri DeltaPlace for short-term (up to one week), Ronald McDonald House for medium-term (one week to 3 months), and Target House for long-term (3 months or more)—provide housing for patients and up to three family members, with no cost to the patient. These policies, along with research expenses and other costs, cause the hospital to incur more than $2.4 million in operating costs each day.

Why am I writing this?   Well these kids need Christmas just like our children do.  But there parents don't want to leave there bedside.  They have no way to go shopping to make there child's holiday bright.

Count Down to Hawaii

Going to Hawaii

to see my little girl.  Ok she is 30 now.  Not so little anymore but still my little girl.

16 Days to go

These pictures are from when I went to see her last year in Oct/Nov 2016

This was my favorite Beach.
She took me to 3.  First one walking on the sand it sank up to my knees.
2nd Beach sand was fine but when we got into water you sank up to your
knees and it was pretty rocky.

The above Beach is called
Lagoon 3

Rhubarb More than a Plant

Rhubarb

Not just a plant.
But it is Pretty in your flower garden.

But it's also real tasty.
Do you like Lemons, or other sour foods.
You will love Rhubarb with salt.
Well I eat Lemons with salt.

But you can back really good sweets too.  Scroll down

Break off the stalk.  Do NOT eat the leaves. Break them off when they turn red.

They also have nutritional value too

Here are just a few Recipes I borrowed from Pinterest.
You can find lots of great recipes on there.
This one is by Julie just click on the link below the photo.

STRAWBERRY RHUBARB JAM

PREP TIME
COOK TIME
TOTAL TIME

Canning in jars is easy when you know How to Make Strawberry Rhubarb Jam from fresh rhubarb, strawberries, sugar and lemon without pectin.
Author:
Recipe type: spread, breakfast
Yields: 4 cups

INGREDIENTS
  • 5 cups rhubarb (about 3 large stalks), cut into 1⁄2" cubes
  • 2 cups hulled and halved strawberries (about 1 pint)
  • 2 1⁄4 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (from about half of a large lemon)
==============================

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium to large saucepan over medium heat. Once mixture starts to bubble, reduce heat to medium low. You'll want the heat set to the point where it continues to bubble but not violently when stirred (you'll understand once you start cooking if jam bubbles start to pop out of the center of the pot). Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the jam has thickened. Plan on cooking jam for about an hour and temperature of the mixture is over 205 degrees F.
  2. While the jam is cooking, sterilize four 1-cup jelly glass jars plus their rings and lids. I do this by boiling them in water for 10 minutes or I boil the lids and run the rings and glass jars through the dishwasher.
  3. Transfer sterilized jars, lids, and bands to a clean dish towel.
  4. Have a very large covered pot of boiling water ready. There needs to be enough water in the pot so that when the filled jars are submerged, they're covered by at least 1" of water.
  5. Fill each jar with hot jam, leaving at least 1⁄4" of space at the top. Place lids on jars, and secure ring bands. Secure just tight enough so that they are hand tightened but you can easily unscrew.
  6. Transfer filled jars to pot of gently boiling water and let boil for 10 minutes. Transfer jars, set at least 1" apart, to a dish towel and let cool, undisturbed, for 24 hours. You should hear the seals on the lids pop pretty soon after removing from the water.
  7. If any jar is not fully sealed, or you chose to skip the canning process, jam should be refrigerated and used within 2 weeks. Sealed jars will keep, in a cool, dark place, for up to a year.

This is one I really want to try.

Journaling and Bible Versus

Hello again everyone.  I am a bit behind on posting.  I wanted to ask you all for a huge favor.

Here is the SMASH book I am making for my sister.

I would like to put a bible verse on the page with the tree and the one with the deer.  Two different verses.  I just am lost.  Would love to see some recommendations.

Here is the link directly to the SMASH book posting.

I'm way behind on working on her book.

Kind of lost the incentive.
Maybe some help will prompt me on again.

Reviews for 2015

Ok this is a repeat each year,
but if this is your first time viewing one of my reviews read why I am doing this.

I got thinking about something a bit ago.  How many of us blog about something important that might help out others.  Or maybe do a blog on a technique or something we really want others to see.

Well probably all or most of us.  And they get viewed, then are on the back burner or WAY back in the closet so to speak just covering up with dust.

I'm not sure if you are like me, but I hate clicking on the month on a blog or on the year and then month by month to see what might have been posted that I might want to check out.  So I am going to start posting every 3 months (if possible) several older posts past.

So January, April, July, Oct and December to end the year. That way you can check them out by clicking on the link.  Or I hope it takes you right to them.  I might have to do a bit of work to get this right so  please bare with me while I try to get this right.  Go right to the post and no scrolling forever to find a particular post.
